May 2 2017, 4pm-8pm The Mockbee 2260 Central Pkwy Cincinnati OH 45214 Art Film Play is an event that is weekly on Tuesdays for artists to come and create work in a fun space, have some spirits, and enjoy great conversation. Writers, animators, painters, sketch artists, music writers, designers- come have a drink with us, create art, and meet other creatives. There will be collaboration tables for those who wish to create with others, and single tables for those who want to concentrate but like having people around for breaks. Outlets are also available, and please bring your own supplies.

Tonight March 17 is the Best of Ottawa Screening! I am going to be heading downtown from Hyde Park, I have 3 or 4 seats empty in my car if anyone wants to carpool down there (If so, email me-cincycan@gmail.com, my name is Darcy). We are then meeting at 8pm in the Washington Square Garage to try to further reduce the number of cars we are trying to park in OTR. Around 8:15 we will be at Lucy Blue Pizza for noms and drinks, then around 9:00pm we will head to Woodward Theater for seats. Just wanted to post a reminder that this Friday the short independent animated films from the Ottawa International Animation Festival are playing in Cincinnati and it's FREE (which is amazing considering people in the industry spend hundreds to see it....) The purpose of the meeting is to get projects done by providing accountability, getting critiques from other indie animation filmmakers and creatives if you want them, showing your work, and getting assistance with any technical- or any other- issues you're having with your production from others that are going through the same thing. The meeting is held on the first Wednesday of each month. The first monthly animation movie night in conjunction with the Cincinnati Film Society is coming up this Wednesday!  We will be screening The Stressful Adventures of Boxhead & Roundhead , a feature animated film made by Elliot Cowan, followed by a Q+A with the director. Announcement! We are starting an Animation   Director's Round Table meeting in Cincinnati that will recur regularly. The people who will want to attend this group are people who are making their own independent animated films who are in the Cincinnati area. The purpose of the meeting is to provide accountability, get critiques from other filmmakers if you want them, show your work, and get assistance with any technical- or any other- issues you're having with your production from others that are going through the same thing.  For example if you're getting an error in some program, someone may be able to help. if you're having trouble with motivation, we can help with that too. Earlier this year Bill Plympton's indie feature "Cheatin" played in Columbus followed by a Q+A by Bill Plympton. Well, the good news is that this event is happening again in Cincinnati this Thursday evening 8/6/15 in case you couldn't make it to the Columbus one! The feature will be followed by a Skype Q+A with Bill Plympton as well. This is a great opportunity to not only see a different type of feature but also to ask questions of a man who has produced multiple features on his own and has had a lot of really big clients too. We are getting a group together to see the Wind Rises by Miyazaki on Tuesday March 4th at 7:15pm at the Esquire Theater. Tuesday is bargain day so the tickets are $6.00 each!  We would love it if you could come too. In case you don't know, The Wind Rises is Miyazaki's latest (maybe last?) film, and it is also his most controversial film because:  "Although 'The Wind Rises' has a strong pacifist message, it is essentially a biopic of Jiro Horikoshi, an aeronautical engineer whose contribution to the world was a killing machine. His designs led to the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter, which was used to devastating effect during World War II."
