Rafael Rosado's Career in Storytelling

Check out Rafael Rosado's talk Monday, March 20th at 6:30 at Otto M. Budig Theater at NKU! This is a great chance to see how someone has managed to have a successful career in animation while living in Ohio. It's in the University Center, highlighted here  He is an amazing illustrator and animator. He has storyboarded shows as diverse as Scooby Doo, Transformers, The Batman, Looney Tunes, Curious George and many others. He also illustrates graphic novels!

Who Hires in Cincinnati? Let's Find Out...

lllustration by Julia Rothman Cincinnati can be a daunting place for animators.   It’s a city known for branding and advertising, weird chili and sports, but where do animators fit into that? With animation degree programs at so many schools and colleges in and around this city I thought it would be a good idea for the sake of all of us to start doing profiles of local companies that work with animators so our members and people who are shaping the educational landscape here can know what the professional field is like as they are considering a career in animation, or considering opening another animation program. The scene here is different from either the West or East coast.   The industry here as I mentioned before is based upon advertising.   On the coasts, or other larger cities in-between, the industry is fueled by advertising and also television, feature and game production. So there are a greater variety and number of employers in some other cities ...

First Directors Round Table Meeting Recap

The first Animation Directors Round Table Meeting ever, which was last night, was absolutely great. We went over everyone's projects and goals and talked about whatever issues we were having. Everyone was very supportive and encouraging to each other, we set goals for the next meeting, talked about technical issues, and decided upon meeting frequency, and we had some nice booze and trail mix at the same time at the lovely Overlook Lodge . The Overlook Lodge- as a bonus, our table for the Round Table session was actually round . They were also playing Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the screens. I think we need to have another meeting here sometime... After the official business was done we listened to some great live music and talked to each other about various artsy topics.  There were a few new faces who I hope we see again, and a few returning ones that I always love to see!
