Cincinnati Animation Company Profile- Epipheo

The first stop on my journey to find animation employers in Cincinnati is Epipheo, which is possibly Cincinnati’s largest employer of animators. Epipheo has a simple goal- to give people epiphanies with their content, hence the name.   They do this through writing and producing both live action and animated commercials and explainer videos for a wide variety of clients. A cool space awaits Nestled in Longworth Hall, Epipheo has a space filled with staff creatives that feels very similar to a cabin in the woods… minus the cozy fur-covered couch needed for napping. However, the whiskey and moonshine were present. This is how they work: they get the assignment from a client, and their storytelling teams find the epiphany and write up the script. For the animated videos they then either assign the script to an animator to complete from start to finish, or they put together a team of creatives who are each skilled at one aspect of...

Animation Directors Round Table

Announcement! We are starting an Animation   Director's Round Table meeting in Cincinnati that will recur regularly. The people who will want to attend this group are people who are making their own independent animated films who are in the Cincinnati area. The purpose of the meeting is to provide accountability, get critiques from other filmmakers if you want them, show your work, and get assistance with any technical- or any other- issues you're having with your production from others that are going through the same thing.  For example if you're getting an error in some program, someone may be able to help. if you're having trouble with motivation, we can help with that too. It's really a support group for indie animators. And hopefully we can learn from each other as well. I have a couple of people who are interested already, myself included. Is anyone else working on their own indie project that would like to attend?  We are d...

Animation Production Blogs

In darkened rooms everywhere there are animation artists tucked away, creating their own films based on their own visions and what they would like to see. Independent Animator Nobuhiro Aihara in a very familiar mess of creativity I thought it would be nice to do a post and share some of the blogs and stuff that I am aware of that follow the production of some of these independent films. SOmetimes if you are working on one of these yourself it is nice to see others' progress- if you're not and want to it is nice to be able to see other people doing it. If you know of any others that I can include feel free to message me with links: The Dam Keeper is a film that is in the works that is created by Dice TsuTsumi and Robert Kondo. "Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo are both Art Directors at Pixar who have worked on Academy Award winning films such as Toy Story 3, Ratatouille, and the upcoming Pixar film, Monsters University.  " (from their Facebook Page) The Dam ...
